FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Feb 14, 2012 -
(SAVANNAH, GA and PENSACOLA, FL)  CommerceV3 (CV3) is pleased to announce that Tim Parry, senior content manager for Multichannel Merchant, will give a much-anticipated talk about maximizing a multichannel approach to eCommerce at its annual CV3 User Conference in Orlando, FL, on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at 1:30pm in the Hilton Orlando.

Entitled “Going Cross-Channel in a Multichannel World,” Mr. Parry’s session will address why direct merchants need to embrace cross-channel marketing, and how retailers can connect those channels to provide a seamless customer experience.  Mr. Parry will discuss several real-world examples of leading merchants who have synchronized multiple channels–such as email, print, social, mobile and eCommerce–and why, as a result, they are winning the game as cross-channel merchants.

Tim Parry joined Multichannel Merchant as senior writer in January 2006, and was promoted to his current position in November 2011. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the magazine, MultichannelMerchant.com, and the i-merchant, O+F Advisor and MCM Weekly e-newsletters, and oversees Multichannel Merchant’s social media efforts. Mr. Parry has spoken at several industry events and has also appeared on FOX Business News.

Blake Ellis, Founding Partner and CEO of CommerceV3, adds, “Tim Parry is a great addition to our roster of CV3 User Conference speakers this year.  We’re excited to have him with us, and we’re looking forward to taking in what promises to be a fascinating–and informative–session!”

CommerceV3 (CV3) proudly announces partnership with e-commerce site John & Kira’s

February 1, 2012 by sharon rogers
CommerceV3 (CV3) is proud to announce their partnership with specialty food e-commerce site John & Kira’s, a socially innovative chocolate company dedicated to both making and selling world class confections and promoting positive social change.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Feb 01, 2012 -
(SAVANNAH, GA and PHILADELPHIA, PA) CommerceV3 (CV3) is proud to announce their partnership with e-commerce site John & Kira’s, a socially innovative chocolate company dedicated to both making and selling world class confections and promoting positive social change.A CommerceV3 client since 2010, John & Kira’s was introduced to CV3 by Tony Cox of 5th Food Group, who works with direct-to-customer food brands and has several clients on the CV3 platform.  John Doyle, co-owner of John & Kira’s, says right away they saw results: “Our search engine optimization (SEO) instantly improved: CV3 probably doubled the number of people coming to the site through organic searches.

John & Kira’s, a gift company that also works for the common good, values CV3’s ability to help tell their story and promote their non-profit partners.  For instance, Doyle says, “CV3’s donation module allows customers to give to our urban garden program, which supplies mint for Mighty Mint chocolate bars.  Also, on our old software videos had to go through a mirror site; with CV3 we can directly integrate multimedia about us and our partners.  CV3’s design flexibility allows us to add features and customize individual HTML pages, helping us effectively support causes we care about.”

The biggest upside since the move to CommerceV3?  “We’re primarily focused on resolving people’s gift-giving needs through chocolate,” Doyle says, “and the CV3 cart allows you to split multiple gifts out to multiple addresses within the same shopping cart experience.  That one change has increased our total order value dramatically–up to 17 or 18 percent.”

As a purely online retail operation based in Philadelphia, PA, John & Kira’s also values CommerceV3’s design flexibility.  “While our old site was primarily template driven,” Doyle says, “CV3 offers much more flexibility in the site’s appearance.  That’s important to us; ten years ago people put tons of time into their store’s glass window; our site is our glass window.”

Many of the thousands of CV3 feature options have found their way into John & Kira’s website.  “Whether it’s free shipping for orders above $40,” Doyle explains, “or ‘buy two, get the third item free,’ CV3 has myriad ways to incentivize folks to order, or reward them for ordering–both crucial to direct-to-customer catalog companies.  Many shopping carts don’t even offer that functionality.”

Doyle also likes the deep integration with Google analytics, “which we didn’t have on our old site, believe it or not!” he admits.  “Now we put a lot of time into watching how customers shop, optimizing our CV3 site and making it streamlined and easy to use.  And the proof is in the pudding: our customers are very happy with our site.”

Blake Ellis, CommerceV3’s Founding Partner and CEO, adds, “Sometimes merchants tell me CV3 has so many options they’re not sure where to start, but all those features are there for a reason. Merchants like John & Kira’s, who invest the time in utilizing them, will see results.”

CommerceV3 has processed over one billion dollars in sales and is one of the few e-commerce platforms that appeals to merchants both large and small.  A hosted e-commerce platform with serious power for serious merchants, CV3 is PCI DSS Level 1 certified, secure, reliable, scalable and customizable.  With no transaction or bandwidth fees and unlimited sku counts, you have the freedom to take your online storefront to new heights.

CommerceV3 Announces Move to Cloud for Long-Time Client Steve Weiss Music

January 10, 2012 by KWOxnard

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 10, 2012

(SAVANNAH, GA) CommerceV3 (CV3) is proud to announce a move to the cloud for long-time client Steve Weiss Music. Steve Weiss started collecting unique and rare percussion instruments over 45 years ago, which over the decades has evolved into being the leading specialty retailer of percussion instruments, music and supplies.

A CommerceV3 partner since 2006, Steve Weiss Music has developed its shopping cart utilizing many of the tools for which CV3 is known. Now, the move to the cloud promises an even faster shopping experience for Weiss customers, as well as added security, as the application on the cloud is completely PCI compliant.

“We’re really excited about the cloud,” says Dan Sullivan, general manager of Steve Weiss Music. “We were the first customers on Commerce V3 to use the cloud for product images, JavaScript and CSS. We built our own system with input from CV3’s admin staff, so uploaded photographs went to Amazon S3 instead of to our server. After it worked for us, CV3 started doing it with all of their customers.”

How exactly does the cloud enhance their business? Sullivan explains that “overall, our customers’ biggest gripe is always downtime, and we feel the move to the cloud resolves that. We’re also crazy about website speed; we do all kinds of optimization, and if we can shave one fifth of a second off our page-load time, we’ll spend time making that happen.”

Sullivan adds that proximity and bandwidth are what make the cloud so appealing to online retailers, whose customers shop from all over North America. “It comes down to CDN–content delivery network,” Sullivan says. “If a customer lives in Oregon and our website is hosted in Savannah or Atlanta, that shopper gets information from Georgia, which can take a second or two. By contrast, the CDN offers five to six locations all over the U.S., so if the customer is in Oregon, that same photograph will come from a server closer to them. Instead of taking one second to load, maybe it takes half a second. When CommerceV3 made the change, it sped up our website a lot, and now all aspects of our website are on the cloud. Google statistics show that increasing website speed by 1/2 of a second can increase conversion by twenty percent. That’s crucial for us.

So far the results have been promising. “Visitors are shopping longer, buying more, and new visitors are converting more often. We’re excited to see where CommerceV3 goes from here.”

Blake Ellis, CommerceV3’s founding partner and chief executive officer, adds, “Hosting options have come a long way in the last ten years, and this move puts us ahead of the curve. We did it to open the door to new possibilities for CV3 and our merchants–things like private clouds, distributed databases and more. We’re just getting started. In fact, site speed hasn’t even been our focus yet, so hold on to your hats in 2012!”

CommerceV3 Announces New eCommerce Mobile Site for Tahoe Mountain Sports

November 17, 2011 by KWOxnard

CommerceV3 (CV3) proudly announces the launch of a new mobile e-commerce site for Tahoe Mountain Sports (TMS), which sells top industry brands of quality outdoor gear, clothing and footwear, both online and in its store in Lake Tahoe, California.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 17, 2011

(SAVANNAH, GA) CommerceV3 (CV3) is proud to announce the recent launch of a new mobile e-commerce site for Tahoe Mountain Sports (TMS), an e-commerce operation from its founding in 2004. TMS sells top industry brands of quality outdoor gear, clothing and footwear, both online and in its store in Lake Tahoe, California.

A CommerceV3 partner since 2009, TMS decided to move into the fast-growing mobile segment of the market in 2010. TMS owner David Polivy says the decision went through several stages.

“About a year ago our Google analytics started to show a huge spike in mobile visitors from iPhones, tablets and Android phones,” Polivy reports. “There was a lot of industry talk about mobile commerce, and we decided to get involved. The next phase became how to implement it at TMS, which led to the question: do we go with a third-party provider? Or do we work with our existing shopping cart partner [CV3], who could hopefully provide a seamless experience between our regular website and the new mobile site? That question was front and center in a lot of e-commerce conversations.”

How did TMS decide to go with CV3 Mobile? “We wanted a seamless experience,” Polivy says. “The same navigation, the same imagery, and most importantly, the same promotional codes, shipping and payment methods. We wanted the customer to be able to shop on a desktop computer or on a mobile phone and not wind up in some third-party Netherland where options were more limited. That became the crux of our commitment to go with CV3–to ensure a seamless move from mobile to desktop, plus the ability to use the same tools on both sites.”

The build-out process was more complex than either TMS or CV3 expected: “The snag had to do with the development environment; mobile’s such a fast-moving, ever-evolving target, with many different operating systems and devices, so making sure it worked in all those places was our biggest challenge. It took a while for tech teams at both companies to get up to speed, which meant testing on eight types of phones and tablets, plus a lot of back and forth, open communication and constructive feedback. Kudos to both the CV3 and TMS development teams for having the patience to see it through!”

Results have already been impressive in the few weeks since launch. TMS has seen a significant increase in conversion rates from mobile devices. And, Polivy adds, the fact that 13 percent of their traffic comes from mobile devices helped TMS hold strong to their commitment to mobile, and to launch as soon as possible.

“Mobile’s been increasing at a faster rate than traffic from anywhere else,” he says. “Though we haven’t created specific promotions for mobile yet, we’ll start doing that soon. Also, we want to enable our physical customers to access store information, such as where to find us, what we have in stock, etc., before having to make the trip over here. That will save them gas and hassles.”

Should smaller e-commerce companies take the risk of implementing mobile? Polivy thinks so. “While we’re not an Internet 500 or multi-million dollar retailer,” he admits, “for our size, we’re keeping up with both the tech world and what the consumer is doing. If 30 percent of people get email on their phones these days, checking messages and clicking links, then we want to be there, making it easy for them to navigate our site, find products and purchase them in a quick, no-hassle, manner.”

Finally, Polivy feels that if other CV3 users or prospective customers are curious about what mobile can do for their e-commerce business, they owe it to themselves to talk with the CV3 staff. “We were early adopters–guinea pigs, if you will–so CV3 mobile implementation is now much easier. And if more CV3 users enable their sites for mobile, that will make the CV3 network even stronger. We hope we can serve as example of what’s possible for CV3 mobile sites.”

Blake Ellis adds, “The team at TMS is great to work with because they’ve really thought mobile out. They know their customers, they watch analytics and they don’t cut corners. They’re not afraid to do the work to get it right, and it was a great pleasure to help them launch this important new facet of their business.”

CommerceV3 has processed close to one billion dollars in sales and is one of the few e-commerce platforms that appeals to merchants both large and small. A hosted e-commerce platform with serious power for serious merchants, CV3 is PCI DSS Level 1 certified, secure, reliable, scalable and customizable. CV3 and Timberline Interactive Announce New Shopping Website for Long-Time Customer SERRV

November 15, 2011 by KWOxnard

CommerceV3 and Timberline Interactive announce the recent launch of a new shopping site for their long-time customer, SERRV, a $9.5 million fair-trade network connecting artisans in developing countries with customers and volunteers across the US.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 15, 2011

(SAVANNAH, GA) CommerceV3 (CV3) and Timberline Interactive are proud to announce the recent launch of the new shopping site for their long-time customer, SERRV (www.serrv.org), a $9.5 million fair trade network connecting thousands of artisans in developing countries with customers and volunteers across the United States.

A Timberline partner since 2005, SERRV has created a website to support and supplement their catalog sales of unique gift, home decor, clothing, jewelry and other items made by artisans and farmers in Asia, Latin America, Africa and Europe. Serena Sato, Director of Marketing at SERRV, says the process of working with Timberline and CV3 to revamp their website was a pleasure from start to finish.

“I can’t say enough good things about Timberline and Deb Brisson [Timberline’s VP of Software Development]” Sato says. “She’s done an amazing job, and our new site is a huge improvement over the old one. Deb helped us problem solve, take advantage of opportunities, and even agreed to be on call when issues came up. We could not have done it without her, for sure!”

The SERRV redesign features several improvements to the site, Sato says: “We now have more flexibility in how to categorize products. For instance, we can use one, two or three tiers, which makes it much easier to navigate. Also, CV3 cross-sell options now allow us to use that field to focus on our artisan stories, which we’re really excited about. Images are now nearly double the old size, which makes a huge difference in the look and feel. The new redirects have also helped us a lot, as has the ability to do top and side navigation. And we love the zoom, which highlights the hand-crafted quality of our products. Though we’re a non-profit, it’s really important that our customers see us not just as a charity site, but as a purveyor of high-quality products. In so many ways, the capacity of the new site has helped us display our products and our story in a manageable, flattering format.”

Sato reports excellent results for the new SERRV site when comparing sales from October 2010 to October 2011, including a 22 percent increase in individual consumer order sizes; a 30 percent increase in individual consumer purchases; a jump to just under 50 percent of orders coming in via the new web site, a slight increase over 2010; and a 12 percent increase in wholesale store orders, with nearly 60 percent of those orders coming in via the new web site.

Timberline’s Deb Brisson adds, “Working with Serena and the rest of the SERRV team was fantastic. They are all very smart, driven and focused on producing a high quality shopping experience. Due to the complexity of their pricing and business rules, we spent a lot of time up front determining how to structure their data so that each of their different customer types would see the appropriate display, product and pricing information. We did this by heavily utilizing the CommerceV3 customer group and promotion tools, a very robust strength of the platform.”
