Save Custom Product Form Information on Wish List

May 6, 2013 by Commerce V3 Support

The CommerceV3 software has been updated to now save the custom product form information entered by the customer to the customers wish list.

Any data contained in custom product forms (edited under Inventory -> Custom Product Forms) will now be saved onto wishlists and viewable via a “view details” link on the /member_wishlist page and /wishlist_full page.

When the wish list products are then added to the cart the custom product form information follows the product to the cart and does not require that the information be re-entered.

Image Resizer- Release Version 2

April 8, 2013 by Commerce V3 Support

The CommerceV3 software has been updated to allow you to upload a zipped image file using the Mass Product Image Upload and re-size the images to the (thumb, pop-up, large) for the products.  The software will save the settings you place for the sizes of each image and retain them for future uploads.

Design> Image Library> Mass Product Image Upload

imageupload1

You will select the zipped file and then select upload.  The following screen will appear.

imageupload2

The edit image dimensions option will appear at the top of the page.  If you select the check box it will open and offer you the opportunity to enter the dimensions for each of the three image types.  (thumb, pop-up, large)

For each product if you select : Generate From File:  then you can choose from the drop down the specific image and the software will create the three image types and add them to the product and place them in the image files (large, Pop-up, Thumb).  If you go to each individual image type for the product and you have uploaded the different sizes of images in the zipped file you can select the individual images and assign them to the product as you would normally.

imageupload3

The image resizer is also available in the individual products and allows you to upload images for each individual product using the resizer.

Inventory> Product search> (select product)> Product Display> Images> Upload Method> Upload Files

imageupload4

This will allow you to upload individual files for each size of image.

Inventory> Product search> (select product)> Product Display> Images> Upload Method>Generate From File

imageupload5

The resizer allows you to select one image file and then have it create the three image sizes that are used for the product.  The image sizes are saved from each use and you can make changes if needed in the image dimensions as well.

The image resizer process will submit and you will receive an email when the process has completed.

This update works directly with the original Image Resizer release.

Meta Tag Duplication and Cached URLs

March 11, 2013 by Commerce V3 Support

The CommerceV3 software has been updated to allow you more options in the use of Canonical tags for Product Review and Question and Answer pages.

In admin, under Settings / Options / Display Options / Catalog Options, you now have new options to:

1) Turn on canonical category information for the create product review and Q&A pages.   Canonical tags tell the search engine bots which pieces of content are the original or primary ones and which are duplicates. This way the bot will pass over the duplicates and only index and give link credit to the primary piece.

2) Show a Not Found page for Product Details, Create Review, and Product Q&A if the category chosen for that page does not exist.  You have the option of setting a Not Found page that you would like to have appear if s NOT Found result is returned.

3) Choose a 301 Redirect for a product or category of the product or category does not exist.  You can choose and set-up a 301 redirect for the separate product and category pages when a NOT FOUND result is returned.

With so much talk about getting into search engines, and achieving high rankings on a particular search engine, it may seem crazy to do anything which would prevent this from happening. However, there are times when you have a web site or page(s) within a web site which you don’t want to end up in a search engine.

For this reason all of the category_sort, category_filter, and category_print views will now have the noindex and nofollow robots tags.

The noindex tag tells the bot Do not show this page in search results and do not show a “Cached” link in search results.

The nofollow tag tells the bot Do not follow the links on this page.
