IRCE Road Trip! CV3′s Amazing Race to Internet Retailer

May 17, 2013 by Marc Bigbie

Road_TripCV3 is celebrating the beginning of summer in style — road trip style. Starting on Memorial Day we’ll pack up an RV in Orlando, Florida with our trade show booth, a bunch of swag and a strong sense of adventure. Our destination? Booth #1523 at the 2013 Internet Retailer Conference in Chicago, Illinois.

On the way we plan to see America CV3 style, by stopping at as many of our merchants’ retail stores and businesses as possible. If they’re open we’ll buy some stuff, give away some swag and jump back in the RV. If they’re closed we’ll snap a photo of their sign in the moonlight and keep going.

Nathan Focht, president of CV3 will be leading the charge (it’s his RV). CEO Blake Ellis and sales director John Rinehart will join him to facilitate photo ops, help with navigation and otherwise keep the RV from getting too comfy. Social Media Expert, Seth Michalak, will be along to document the whole thing in real time on the web via Twitter, Instagram and more.

When we arrive in Chicago we hope to catch a shower and then adorn our trade show booth with all the pictures, trophies and products we picked up along the way. During the show we’ll give it all away as prizes in our patent pending “Order Path Challenge” balance table game. We can’t describe it, so you’ll just have to see it in person or online during the trip (we’ll have it with us in the RV).

So how many merchants can we visit? We have no idea. We think we’ll leave Orlando and visit Savannah, Atlanta and Nashville, but then things get a bit hazy. Louisville seems like it’s kinda on the way, but then where? Do we go to Cincinnati? Indianapolis? New York City???

If you’re on the way, or not, let us know so we can stop by. You’ll get some free PR and we promise to buy anything we break. Need a ride to Internet Retailer? We can help with that too–just bring your own pillow.

All the fun starts on Memorial Day, so make sure you like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and pucker up on Instagram in advance so you don’t miss any of the action. Get online, tune in, and get ready!

Get on the tour route early and we will see you very soon!

Save Custom Product Form Information on Wish List

May 6, 2013 by Commerce V3 Support

The CommerceV3 software has been updated to now save the custom product form information entered by the customer to the customers wish list.

Any data contained in custom product forms (edited under Inventory -> Custom Product Forms) will now be saved onto wishlists and viewable via a “view details” link on the /member_wishlist page and /wishlist_full page.

When the wish list products are then added to the cart the custom product form information follows the product to the cart and does not require that the information be re-entered.

Image Resizer- Release Version 2

April 8, 2013 by Commerce V3 Support

The CommerceV3 software has been updated to allow you to upload a zipped image file using the Mass Product Image Upload and re-size the images to the (thumb, pop-up, large) for the products.  The software will save the settings you place for the sizes of each image and retain them for future uploads.

Design> Image Library> Mass Product Image Upload

imageupload1

You will select the zipped file and then select upload.  The following screen will appear.

imageupload2

The edit image dimensions option will appear at the top of the page.  If you select the check box it will open and offer you the opportunity to enter the dimensions for each of the three image types.  (thumb, pop-up, large)

For each product if you select : Generate From File:  then you can choose from the drop down the specific image and the software will create the three image types and add them to the product and place them in the image files (large, Pop-up, Thumb).  If you go to each individual image type for the product and you have uploaded the different sizes of images in the zipped file you can select the individual images and assign them to the product as you would normally.

imageupload3

The image resizer is also available in the individual products and allows you to upload images for each individual product using the resizer.

Inventory> Product search> (select product)> Product Display> Images> Upload Method> Upload Files

imageupload4

This will allow you to upload individual files for each size of image.

Inventory> Product search> (select product)> Product Display> Images> Upload Method>Generate From File

imageupload5

The resizer allows you to select one image file and then have it create the three image sizes that are used for the product.  The image sizes are saved from each use and you can make changes if needed in the image dimensions as well.

The image resizer process will submit and you will receive an email when the process has completed.

This update works directly with the original Image Resizer release.

Payment Gateway Down Option

March 28, 2013 by Christina Focht

The CommerceV3 software has been updated to allow you to choose if you want to prevent order processing if your payment gateway goes down.

By default, when using a Payment Gateway, in the event that CV3 cannot reach the Payment Gateway (ex. Gateway is having connection issues), the order will be processed and passed along in the Order Export to be processed manually.

You now have the choice to use the default behavior mentioned above, or to prevent the orders from processing until the payment gateway can be reached.

*Please note, this means that no orders can be placed online while your payment gateway is experiencing issues.

This option can be found under Settings -> Payment Options -> Credit Card Options:
CV3 - Payment Gateway Down Option 1

Google Base Updates for CV3 2/7/2013

February 19, 2013 by Commerce V3 Support

The CommerceV3 software has been updated to allow you additional options in creating and submitting your products to the Google search engine.

The File Type option remains the same with you having the choice of an XML file or a Text file for submission.

The following lists  the main changes in this update for the Google Base export.

The product Sku field can now be used as the setting  for the following options.

Brand, Product Type, Department, MPN, Model #, and GTIN.

For sites that do not have separate or unique information for the fields the Sku can be chosen.

A  field to allow you to specify the condition of the product (New or Used) has been added to the export.

You may now send the image of the sub-product instead of only being able to send the parent image.

As you can see if you choose Yes the export will use the sub-product image if it exists.  Otherwise the image will default to the parent product image.

For the XML feed you now have the option to Not send blank attributes for products.

The last change for the update is the ability to send shipping charges per product to override your Google Merchant Center shipping.

The select box next to “Override Shipping Price” will include “none”, “fixed ” and 35 custom fields.  It will be set to “none” by default.  If set to “fixed shipping”, the value for fixed shipping for the product will be used.  You can set a shipping rate within a custom field and choose that custom field for the export.

If you are choosing to use the fixed shipping option you will want to make sure that you have a value for each product in the fixed shipping area for shipping options.

If the custom field is blank or the option is set to None for the Override Shipping Options it will not send the field.

These changes will add additional flexibility and options for your Google Base submissions.

Commercev3 Rewards Program

December 10, 2012 by Commerce V3 Support

The Commercev3 software has been upgraded to allow you the opportunity to provide a loyalty program to your members for purchases made on your site.

The upgrade requires a template upgrade.

The new software allows you to offer a rewards program to your members and allow them to redeem the rewards for selected products on your site.  You have control of the number of points that a member earns based on the number of products purchased or on the dollar value of the purchases.  You then have the opportunity to select which of your products that a customer can choose from to redeem the points.

Customers > Rewards Program (will show once the Template Upgrade has been completed for your store)

To set up the number of points that a customer must use in order to redeem for a product you can go into each individual product’s options  and select if it can be purchased with points and how many points it takes to purchase the product.  This setting is found in Inventory> Product Search> {select product}> Options> Options> Rewards Program Product and Rewards Program Redeem Points.  If the product is a sub-product or an attribute product you will need to select and check the Rewards Program Product in the parent product and the Rewards.

Program Redeem Points in the sub-product or attribute level.

By selecting the Rewards Program Product checkbox, you are making this product available as a product that can be purchased on the site with member points.  The Rewards Program Redeem Points is the number of points needed to receive the product for free.  The customer does not have the ability to pay a part of the item cost with points and part of the product with another form of payment at this time.  In order for the customer to be able to add the item to the cart they must have at least the minimum number of points necessary to purchase the item selected.

The customer must be a registered Member of your site in order to be eligible to earn rewards points.  The Member must be logged in to their account in order to earn or redeem points on the site.  The rewards program can give customers an incentive to join your site as a registered member, and maintain the loyalty to your site by receiving free items when they make purchases on the site.

This is how the rewards product will look in the cart when the points are redeemed for the eligible product.

The error message that is displayed if the number of points does not meet the minimum required for the product redemption.

The product will be removed from the cart if the points available do not meet the minimum required for redemption.

Currently the Rewards Program does not interface with any existing rewards programs.  There is not a way to import a list of members into the system with existing points from another source at this time.

You have the ability to edit each member account on your site and view the number of points they have earned and the number of points redeemed.  You also have the ability to add points to the number earned field for each member individually.

The redeemed products are handled the same as products that are given for free on your site as it pertains to reporting and inventory.  The products are removed from inventory but there is no revenue reported for the products.

Image Re-sizer Upgrade Instructions

October 18, 2012 by Commerce V3 Support

The CommerceV3 software has been updated to include an image re-sizer in the image file option area.  (Template Upgrade Required)

Design> Image Library> Image Uploads

The directory will need to be in the Parent directory (  Current Directory: “/images/uploads” ) in order for the re-sizer to work correctly.

You have the option to upload individual images or upload a zipped file of images.  The zipped file will need to contain images only with no folders or sub files in the file.

You will want to have the original image in the largest size that you will display on the site.  The re-sizer will reduce the size of the original into the smaller image sizes defined in the upload process.

After you have entered the pixel sizes for each image size to be created you will need to enter an email address to have the completion notification email sent.  The email address is a required field.

You will then submit the request.  After submitting the request it may take a few moments for the request to process and the highlighted submit button to disappear and return you to the main image library page.

Depending on the file size and the number of requests in the re-sizer que you will receive the confirmation email at the address listed in the request.

The notification email will instruct you to look in each of the individual files for the Thumb, Large, and Pop-Up images that have been created for each item.

The images are then available within CV3 image library for your use as needed.

September 20, 2012 by Commerce V3 Support

The CommerceV3 software has been updated to allow the option for your customers to enter multiple line gift messagse for orders during the checkout process.

You may now turn on multiple inputs for Gift Message during Checkout, specify the number of lines, and the number of allowable characters per line.  MOM Builder can also use these new lines.

To toggle this, go to Settings-> Options-> Display Options-> Checkout Options-> Would you like to use multiple input lines for gift message at checkout?

If you use MOM to export your orders, you will need to follow the instructions on the page. To select the “Multiline Gift Message Part #” in your MOM Builder settings, go to Orders > MOM Builder and change any Gift Message Part # fields the new format: Multiline Gift Message Part # so that it will export correctly for MOM.

During the checkout process, these fields show the gift message as separate lines on either the /checkout_shipping or /checkout_shippingaddress pages.

If you are not a MOM user, the feature is still available for use and will print each line on the order and email confirmations.
