You can either use content only products (built in to CV3) or you can have your blog at a subdomain of your url blog.yourdomainhere.com (this requires additional services).

If you chose the subdomain option, CommerceV3 can add a blog for you to Rackspace and set up your ftp info and send to you for a quoted fee.
You can then set up your WordPress type blog yourself, or blog-r-us or whatever.
We do not host blogs, but can host the domain in which it resides on. We can have the blog link added on your site for you.  All Blog services will need to be quoted by our production department.

So there is no way to have the blog be addressed like your web site?? So that your blog address would be www.yourcompany.com/blog and not blog.yourcompany.com ??

You can do this using content only products.

  • Create a category called blog, and make it hidden.
  • Create a custom category template for your blog, and set the blog category to use it.
  • Add a content only product (your blog entry), and add it to that category.  It won't show in the search results, if it is only in a hidden category.

Using this method, you can't make the blog searchable, unless you want those entries to show up within your regular search results.  However, it is a good method for a simple blog without any hassle.  We also use a custom 'add comments' area, which uses the built in product review funtionality.

If you want to see our example, just email me.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan. Can you send me an example of the blog feature? I am setting it up on our site this week and would love to see it.

Raven - We are using it built into our site for "articles".  You can see an example here which allows comments: http://www.steveweissmusic.com/product/century-of-progress-marimba-orchestra/articles

You can also manipulate your category templates to make the category look more like a blog, have sub-categories, etc.
